Training Description

The Creative Curriculum focuses on a whole-child approach to education—one where children develop not only math and literacy skills but also social–emotional, physical, and cognitive skills. This training will provide an overview of the following components: high-quality learning environments, project-based investigations and teacher interactions that are meaningful, intentional, and engaging.

Learning outcomes

• Participants will identify components of their curriculum.

• Participants will explore ways to implement all components into their classroom.

Assessment Strategies

A variety of assessment strategies will be conducted throughout the training to ensure the knowledge and skills are obtained. Assessment strategies include Gains/Post Assessment, Chat Box Question/Response, Breakout Room Presentations, Implementation Plans.

Use of Technology

The following may be technology requirements for this training. You may need some or all items listed

• Internet connection

• Computer PC, Laptop, tablet with built in camera and sound capabilities or a web camera

• Zoom App downloaded to devices (smartphone, tablet, mac)

Training Expectations

1. Conduct yourself in a professional way:

• Dress appropriately

• Refrain from drinking alcohol, smoking or vaping

• Consider background distractions

2. Be present:

• Attend whole training start to finish

• Video camera should be on

• Sign in using the chat box

3. Participate throughout the trainings:

• Communicate using the chat box

• Speak during large group discussions

• Interact during breakout sessions

• Respond to verbal call outs

4. Complete all required documents:

• Implementation plan - if applicable

• Pre/post training evaluation - if applicable

• Post gains survey/assessment - survey/assessment will be emailed after verification of attendance and participation

If a survey is not submitted and completed in its entirety this will affect applicable stipends, receipt of a certificate of completion (in-service hours) or CEU certificate.

In-Service Training Hours - 4.0 hours

Certificate of completion (in-service hours) will only be awarded if the following items are completed by the participant:

Attendance for the scheduled training date

Meeting all Training Expectations (see above)

Submission of the post gains survey/assessment sent after the training

Achieving an 60% or higher on the survey

If these items are not met, participants may be offered a certificate of attendance with no in-service hours.

Continuing Education Units - 0.4 Unit is equivalent to 4 continuing education hours

Registrants requesting CEU's will be required to upload/submit a government or employer issued ID at registration.

A passing score of 80% or higher on the assessment/survey is required for participants requesting CEU’s.

CEU certificates are dependent upon attendance and all training expectations. If all training expectations are not met participants will not be eligible for CEU’s.

CEU’s or formal education (college courses) are required to renew a Florida Staff Credential. This includes credentials earned through the Apprenticeship Program at Pinellas Technical College. Please note that the Apprenticeship program offers a Florida Staff Credential and not a CDA.

**IMPORTANT NOTE**

If you would like to request CEU’s you will need to submit a government or employer issued ID to Sharon Dennany at sdennany@elcpinellas.org or 727-400-4431 no later than Friday, November 5, 2021 at 12:00pm.

All requests after that date and time will be denied.
